Acquiring Hawksnest Adventures

After 35 years of family ownership, Hawksnest Adventures in North Carolina has been sold, marking a major transition for a long-standing High Country attraction known for snow tubing, ziplining, and family-friendly outdoor experiences.

The acquisition by Bound for Adventures, alongside River Riders, expands a growing multi-state adventure portfolio. This move strengthens regional reach, enhances year-round offerings, and allows shared resources while maintaining each brand’s identity and commitment to high-quality guest experiences.

We’re excited to welcome our new Chief Operating Officer, a seasoned industry leader from the New River Gorge with over 30 years of hands-on experience in operations. His background spans every facet of running and growing successful outdoor adventure businesses, including business strategy, marketing, and guest experience management. With his extensive expertise and deep passion for outdoor recreation, he brings a wealth of knowledge that will strengthen our operations, drive strategic growth, and enhance the experiences we offer across all Bound for Adventures locations.

Strong Demand for Nature‑Based & Multi‑Activity Experiences

We’re seeing firsthand how guests are increasingly seeking diverse, multi‑activity outdoor experiences. From our snow tubing operations in the winter to waterpark fun, rafting with River Riders, and adventure camps during the summer, customers are looking for opportunities to combine activities into full-day or multi-day outings. By offering a variety of adventure options across seasons and locations, we keep guests engaged longer, encourage repeat visits, and deliver richer, more memorable experiences that meet the growing demand for immersive, nature-based recreation.

Winter Season Recap

This past winter season was a landmark period for Bound for Adventures, highlighting both operational excellence and strategic growth across our portfolio. Our snow tubing operations in Harpers Ferry experienced record attendance, driven by strong community engagement and an enhanced guest experience. Building on that success, we launched the Harpers Ferry Light Show, a signature winter attraction that has quickly become a highlight for families and visitors alike, showcasing our ability to create memorable seasonal experiences. Additionally, we strategically added a full-size complementary business alongside our snow tubing operation—an initiative so successful that it has now grown into a standalone venture, demonstrating the scalability and adaptability of our approach. These achievements reflect our team’s dedication to thoughtful growth, long-term business development, and delivering exceptional outdoor experiences that resonate with both local communities and regional visitors.
